Creating A Symbol

Creating A Symbol:

This means you can use an object you have drawn or imported, easily in multiple documents.

Modify> Create symbol…
Give you object a name, click OK
Object will appear in Resource Browser under Symbols/Plug in objects

If the object is 3D and you require a 2D version;

Trace the 3D object making whatever shape you'd like to use in your 2D drawing
Select the 2D shapes you have just drawn and Edit> Cut or apple x
Right click on the symbol in the Resource Browser and choose Edit
Select 'Edit 2D Component', press Edit
Edit> Paste in place or apple alt v
Then press the 'Exit Symbol' button at the top right of the vectorworks window
Your object now has 2D capabilities
